• Title of the book(s) to be used:
Divide and Ride by Stuart J. Murphy

• Other Materials (for activities)
Monster hat, note cards, markers, pens, construction paper, scissors, unsharpened pencil, dry erase board, dry erase markers

• TEKS Objectives: §111.16. Mathematics, Grade 4.
• The student will use the rules of division, relate multiplication and division, divide by one-digit numbers, divide by two-digit numbers, and divide by three-digit numbers.

• Procedure:
a. Warm-up Activities:
• The student will read Divide and Ride by Stuart J. Murphy.
• The student will then review over multiplication by playing a game, Multiplication Tic-Tac-Toe. The student will answer a multiplication problem and get to put to place their X or O any where they please.

b. Main Activities:
• I will bring out my first activity for my student to play, Division Pizza Delivery. The student will draw a division problem from the stick of cards. If the student answers the problem correctly, the student will get to put parts of the pizza together.
• My student will then play the second activity, Pretty Princess of Division Castle. The student will choose their game piece to start the game. They will then spin the spinner, move their game piece and draw a division problem from the deck of cards. If the student answers the problem correctly, the student will get to take a piece of jewelry from the treasure chest. The student will keep playing until they have successfully put on all the pieces of jewelry: ring, necklace, bracelet, earrings, and crown.

c. Follow-up Activity:
• As a follow-up activity, I will use the game Math Jeopardy. There are three columns with 5 card choices under each title for the student to pick from: Division 1, Division 2, and Division 3. The student will pick the category of their choice, the card of their choice, and answer the problem on the card.

d. Assessment:
• To assess my student’s understanding, I will use the game Polka-Dot. I will show the student a division problem on a card. The card will be in a special envelope that shows the problem, 4 different answers, and 4 holes. The student will choose their answer by poking the dot of their choice with a pencil. I will then pull the card up, if the student’s answer is correct the card will not come out of the envelope. If the student is wrong, the card will come up easily and the student will try it again.
