Our Different Voices
Objective: Students will label and experience their vocal productions.
Procedures:
1. Students identify different ways they can use their voices: whispering, talking, singing, and yelling. Each voice is discussed for the appropriate use. Tell students they will use all their voices today in music except for yelling, which should be reserved for emergencies or special circumstance.
2. Teacher leads students in sining Itsy Bitsy Spider with whispering voice, talking voice, and finally singing voice. Students choose which voice is appropriate.
3. The Moose, (or any easy echo song), is taught. Students echo teacher voice in three different volumes along with song movements.
4. Little White Duck is prefaced- students must listen to the different animals in the song, listen to what happens to the animals in the song, and make animals noises in the song where a pattern indicates.
5. Little White Duck is debriefed with students and sung again.
Review:
All voices learned in class are reviewed by students. Teacher asks students to think how they use their voices until music class next time.
