I live outside of DC? Does any one know of some good beaches within a few hours drive of here? I'd prefer somewhere a little less touristy than Virginia Beach or the Outer Banks. I've heard Cape May, NJ, is nice?

If you know of any other well kept secrets please let me know.

I'm nowhere near your area but I googled it and found:

Just spent a week in Dewey and it was awesome. If you're single or you have a family, this area has it all. if you have any further questions, let me know - blocks from Rehobeth Beach and 20 miles from Ocean City, MD. It's a great place to vacation. Good luck.

The coast of Maine is not close to you but makes for a wonderful vacation.  I recommend anyone who can to go to Mount Desert Island.

Cape May is really nice but the Outer Banks are AMAZING! I'm getting ready to go there for a week and I can't wait. Have you ever been there before? I''m sure if you looked up on the internet other New Jersey or Delaware beaches you'll be able to find something like what you're looking for.

Hey Chris:

I live near the Outer Banks in NC and it is not as busy as usual (economy?) so it might not be too crowded-you could probably book a cottage for a week. Maybe get some old friends and extended family in on it and have a blast.
