Usually Parenthood has never been easy especially nowadays . Parents worry about whether their children are getting enough exercise, a healthy diet, the right kind of stimulating play.

Are you asking about height? Weight? Physical maturity? Social maturity? #s 1 & 3, better nutrition. #2, television & lack of exercise (also see #1 &3), too much junk/snack food. #4? I don't see it.

Girls these days are growing up too fast. Because of all the TV shows, with shows on MTV (which I have not allowed my own children to watch with all those reality shows) and America's Top Model and Entertainment TV with all kinds of adult content.  Also, with all the chemicals and hormones in foods these days girls are developing too early! Luckily my daughter is small for her age, and where she is just developing other girls her age are fully physically matured. These fully matured girls can't wear the same clothes my daughter wears without looking like a "hoochie mama."  Finally, it also starts at home with the parents, I can't believe how they let thier girls walk out of the house with sooo much make-up. Maybe I'm old fashion, but I tell my daughter she's not ready for a boyfriend and make-up is to make yourself more attractive in order to get a boy's attention.

I have been thinking the same thing.  It definitely has to do with their socialization.  I have some family in Sweden, and the daughter of the family was playing with dolls until 5th grade.  I remember thinking that was weird....but its only weird for America.  How nice that she can be sheltered from the preteen years a little longer than our girls.

RIGHT ON!!!!!!! I recently met a "little girl" who happens to be my young cousin's best friend and was totally shocked at her behavior, dress, and knowledge of what I believed to be inappropriate matters. With cell phones, texting, the internet, and MTV, aka Music/Trash-Vision, these girls don't stand a chance at protecting their innocence. It's really sad. Oh, and go organic/vegetarian to avoid all those nasty chemicals and hormones!

Standing in front of the microwave too long?  Something in the water?  Who knows.

I often wonder about this question.  I teach fourth grade- half my class act like second graders and the other half like seventh graders.  What I am noticing is they are getting boobs (some of them have bigger ones than the girl I work with!!) and getting their periods.  I never thought I would have to deal with this in fourth grade, I was thinking seventh and eighth grade.  These aren't girls who have been held back either.  Other teachers believe that it is because of all the hormones in milk and meat.  I'm not sure..
