Teacher summers are sacred, right? Have you planned a trip this summer despite the price of gas? Share where you're going!

If you need trip ideas, I pulled together vacations that are worth looking into: 20 Summer Vacation Trips for Teachers.

I've decided that gas is going to cost what it's going to cost, and I'm not going to let it keep me at home all summer! I try to visit family that lives far away over the summer. Spend some time at my parents and my sisters' house in Texas. It's free to stay and not glamorous, but having the whole day to spend as you want is the best!

I'm with you on gas. Honestly, I think I would spend more running errands around town in the amount of time it'll take me to drive someplace. But I'm going to watch last minute fares on this site my friend told me about called Kayak: http://www.kayak.com/ I figure since I don't have a schedule, I'll just go someplace that it's cheap to get to. I have another teacher friend that's going to go with me.

The occasional theme park or two may receive a visit from us, along with the beach. But, that's about it. The gas would kill us.

Right after school my son and I will take a ten hour train trip to Montreal so he can initiate his new passport and try out some of the French he was supposed to learn this year.

Right after July 4th I'll be spending a week at Harvard University participating in a seminar on Black American Lives sponsored by the Gilder-Lehrman Institute of American History ( http://www.gilderlehrman.org/ ).

I'd like to take one more trip, but I have not planned it yet.

I'm taking 9 students to Japan with EF tours. If anyone out there has been to Japan and has any advice for traveling with students, I'd love to hear it.

This summer I have planned a very good trip. Puerto Rico,  during the first two week of June, Summer school last two weeks of Juen. Utah, firt week of July playing volleyball with my son, and the rest of the summer preparing our Volleyball Team form High school. It's a never end time. However, I believe the first two week of Juen will recharge my baterries. Beaches, and waves......

I won a grant trip through the school so I will be going to SanFrancisco this summer to visit Apple, Google, and the many Tech museums there.  Hopefully we will get a chance to enjoy Napa while we are there too!

I'm from Puerto Rico.  I've been in Miami for 1 year and I haven't gone back to  my country since I've been here.  So, I'll have to overlook the gas problem and the increase in the cost of plane tickets and go during this summer.  I need to see my parents who have been sick lately and I haven't been there for them.  But I had to move on since the situation in Puerto Rico has gotten very difficult even more than it is here.  Why Miami then since it is expensive here too.  My son studies in FIU and is living with us.  He just graduated from BA in physical education sports management.  He has been admitted to Masters and will complete his 1 year participation remaining in NCAA  basketball for FIU.  So I'll be staying in Miami until my son decides what road he will continue in the near future.

I am going to Turkey for two weeks.Because of the negative politics of Greece towards Macedonia nobody will visit Greece this summer.I am so sorry about this because the beach is only 3 hours from my home.

Great summer plans - gas will not stop me from having a good time - the government already has too much control. I worked the rise of gas into my budget and it's not a problem. We're off to Dewey for a week, DC for three days, Virginia for 4 day, and Florida for 7 days. All this by car and the gas will be crazy - but it's like those credit card slogan, "time on the road $500, time with family, priceless." Have wonderful summer everyone.

It's forced vacation, so I'll be doing a bit of traveling, too. Seeing family. But I would like to find at least one place and thing to do that's just for me that really is vacation like but CHEAP.

Going to San Diego for an overnighter with my hubby and our kids to visit a theme park and some other sites.
