iPhone combines the world’s most advanced mobile phone, the best iPod we’ve ever created, and the Internet in your pocket with rich HTML email, web browsing, searching and maps. With its sophisticated multi-touch interface and pioneering new software, iPhone completely redefines what you can do on a mobile phone.
Simply put, it's the best phone I've ever used. Everything is intuitive & well thought-out. For most part the iPhone experience is just as advertised. It definitely set the bar quite high for the competitions.
By now, most of you have probably seen what the iPhone can do. So, I will just skip all those and go directly to what it can't do:
1) Not a 3G phone (EDGE is slow w/ graphics intensive sites).
2) Battery last about a day if you're constantly poking at it.
3) NO Search/Filter for Email
4) NO delete all / empty trash for Email
5) Cannot sync notes
6) Doesn't differentiate your iCal calendars & no to-do list.
7) Safari will crash from time to time for large sites. I hear a hard reboot (holding power & menu button) will fix this.
8) Need ugly extension to play nice w/ existing headphones (and even then, the missing answer/skip button could get quite annoying).
9) NO auto Trimming of playlist or down scale of music files.
10) NO "real" third party applications
11) NO customizable ring tone.
12) NO video camera & moblog integration.
13) You'll need to send your phone to Apple to replace its battery..
14) NO bluetooth sync.
Keep in mind a lot of these issues can and probably will be addressed in future software/firmware upgrades. The iPhone is not perfect. But, at the end of the day it's not just about specs & features. The human factor is what's most attractive and compelling about this phone. Winning a fan base or not, it certainly has captured our imaginations of what a phone can and should be.
edit: I just want to point out that the 400 recharge claim is a full charge cycle, meaning it must be drained completely and then recharged fully. And, it's only then, the battery's performance starts to go down. It doesn't mean your phone will stop working after the 400th charge It only means battery would probably start dying out a quicker than you use to.
> The iPhone battery will only survive about 300-400 recharges, the company says. Because the unit is sealed, consumers can't swap out dead batteries. Instead, dead phones must be sent to Apple, where battery replacement will take three business days and cost $79 plus a $6.95 shipping charge. Those who can't live without their cell phones for those three days can rent a spare iPhone for $29.
****Jaw drops in disbelief****
Looks cool but missing too many features. Plus it is hard to type on. Ill wait for version 2.0.
This is an awfully expensive phone. I'm going to wait until the price drops.
All of my friends that have iPhone love them! I can see why...I forced them to let me play on them and I think they are awesome. These phones are going to totally revolutionize our world. We will all be much more easily connected to information and to each other through a device like this.
Yet the debate remains as to if we SHOULD be so connected; is there something unnatural about it?
Love the iPhone. I am the owner of one and I am absolutely satisfied with this product. It is smooth, sleek , and easy to use. The interface is friendly and its capabilities are endless.
My students get really amazed when they see it, it is all in one at your fingertips.
This is the single coolest piece of technology that I have seen! It amazes me how much thought Apple puts into their design. Everything is touch screen and logical.
Love it, love it!
