I was fortunate(?) enough to have taken six years of Latin (and two of ancient Greek) back when I was in (parochial) schools.
It helped me greatly not only with English and French, but it also sparked a life-long interest in history and the classics of Greece and Rome.

I took Latin in High School along with Spanish, French and English (lol). Latin was extremely difficult for me, but it did make me examine English grammar more closely. Sadly, I did not retain much of the material due to lack of use.

They have added Latin to the list of foreign languages at our school. They eliminated Health, Accounting, and Family Programs. But we have Latin.

With Latin being the base of all the romance languages (French, Spanish, Italian, Romanian, Portuguese) and a major contributor to English, studying Latin is a first-class way to expand one's vocabulary. I wish they taught it when I was in school.
