This lady is a freak. It is just like those girls who say they have to strip to be able to afford college. Can you say, "student loan?" She is a professional and you can't tell me there isn't some other second job she could take to supplement her income. There are plenty of questionable jobs that people take because they pay more, but an educator should be ethical in their decision. If she were a high school teacher and one of her students was faced with the same dilemma, would she try to help her find an alternative or would she be her recruiter? Modeling behavior is our first priority. Would she want her students to aspire to this? Yes, it is pathetic that she isn't making enough as a professional to make ends meet, but it doesn't sit well with me that she has two small children of her own that she may have to explain her choice to someday. As a mother I would have a problem with putting my kids in her classroom and would question her judgment on teaching children when she cannot handle making good decisions about her own life. What happens when she gets caught up in substance abuse to dull the pain of her decision? What happens when she gets murdered with her dangerous job on the street? She leaves her children without a mother and students with a missing teacher. At least she is not a child predator who thinks it is alright to be "in love" with one of her young students. Although, her alternate profession would likely cause some parents of the students to wonder.

More important than what she is doing to supplement her income is the mere fact that she needs to supplement her income at all. We as a society and this is one of the problems I always find especially around election time is that everyone is so busy on "what the other person has done, going to do or not done at all" that neither party really answer with concrete format what their plan is. Also, how will they accomplish there idea. Compare to other profession with the same or very similar years of education who are making at least double the salary it is no wonder that teachers need a second and third job. What we fail to see is that when teachers are forced to do this it is affecting our children. Teachers are tired, stressed out and overwhelmed - who do you think is taking the brunt of this? Our kids. Even as I write this comment I think that both of my sons want to go into teaching but, should they? What type of future will they have? Security sure, medical benefits etc. but, the bottom line will they be able to buy a house, car have their own families etc. oh, of course and pay back their student loans.
WE as a country should be ashamed of ourselves. But, still all we hear (last nights debate) is how "I will do" but, after the election is over and done. We hear " I wanted to do but...."

Surely low teacher pay isn't an American phenomena. My uncle is a teacher, with a doctorate's in Mexico. He says that they're paid very little but just enough to make it another day. Teachers back then were looked as important figures in Mexican society, mostly to rural and deprived areas. Overtime the government has taken away some of the funding to keep the population ignorant. Like all who want to be teachers, I hope, it's about the love for what you do, not the money.

In all honesty, my feeling is when I walk out the door, it's none of my employers business what I do. If that's her second job, so be it. The sad part is that this woman must not love herself enough to know that she is better then what she is doing on the side. If she wore a wig like in pretty woman then I'm sure know one would know what her second job is...lol.

It says something really pathetic about how little a society values teachers when a college educated professional finds themselves in a position where selling their body to bolster their income seems like a necessary action. Makes you want to strengthen your local teachers' union. Teachers of the world unite, you have nothing to lose but your chains . . . and your lousy second jobs as prostitutes.

Most teachers find they have to take on a second job just to make ends meet. Maybe teachers should get a salary that doesn't require a second job.

"Prostitution has been legal in New Zealand since 2003, making it difficult for the school to take direct action."
Time for me to pack up and head for New Zealand.

I guess low teacher pay is not a uniquely American phenomenon.
